Continuously Variable Drum Sequencer

Voltage Modular developer Grant Middleton of Under the Dome and Dome Music Technologies demonstrates a technique with Voltage Modular to inject variety into a modular beat.

"This trick uses the fact that the stock Cherry Audio Envelope Generators trigger whenever the gate input voltage rises above 2.5 volts. I have used a slowly rising sawtooth wave LFO to provide a reference position in a bar (-5V rising to +5V over the course of the bar). By adding a different DC offset voltage to this rising sawtooth, I can get different sounds to trigger at different points in the bar. The kick drum downbeat is always triggered at the start of the bar, but the Claves, Cowbell, Cymbal and Snare can fall on any fractional beat within each bar."
