Mercury-8 and Trident Mk III Updates

Cherry Audio's most popular releases of 2025 have been updated with awesome new features aimed at getting even more from both synthesizers.

The latest Trident Mk III update (1.0.16) adds the new effects from Mercury-8 and allows easy sharing of saved effect chains between both synthesizers. Use the "Click Here to Save" command in the Effects section to save and load your effect chains. For full details, see the updated Effects section in the online User Guide.

To get the free update and these new effects, use the Sync app or download Trident 1.0.16 from the website. Included in the new effects are:

  • DCO Chorus - Inspired by the stereo chorus of the Juno‑60, this adds rich, swirling movement to analog pads and is great for beefing up textures with that classic 80s spread.

  • Panner - Brings movement to your preset in the stereo field. Use it to animate a wandering pad, give your lead a swirling stereo motion, or place layers dynamically across the stereo field.

  • Pulser - A flexible 16-/32-step gate/sequencer to inject rhythmic motion into sustained sounds. Use it as a programmable tremolo, stutter, or step-gate engine that sits on the end of your signal chain.

This Mercury-8 1.0.12 update, released today, introduces a new setting that enhances the user experience when using MIDI controllers with this multi-layered instrument. The new "MIDI Mapping Only Affects Visible Controls" option in Settings/Interface (above) now allows users to assign the same control and MIDI CC to functions in both layers. When enabled, only the currently displayed layer will respond to adjustments, enabling users to easily switch between layers and independently modify parameters such as cutoff and ADSR with a single set of controls. For complete details, check out the updated MIDI Controllers Setup and the MIDI Tab section of the online Mercury-8 User Guide (see New: Mercury-8 Layers, MIDI, and Focus).
