Cherry Audio Trident Mk III - So 1980's!

Oct 20, 2025 | sonicstate

In the latest episode of Sonicstate's "PatchFLIP" series, host Nick Batt takes a tour of some of his favorite presets and features of the Trident Mk III. The video is great opportunity to hear some truly majestic Trident Mk III presets by James Terris, James Dyson, and Mike Martin, as well as Cherry Audio's new Lushverb effect in action!

We take a look at the Cherry Audio Trident Mk III, a software imagining of the classic 1980-82 Korg Trident MK1/II. It was a beast of a synth aimed at the stage performer of the time, but somewhat overshadowed by the more synthy Jupiter-8, Junos and Prophet~5. Which although less impressive looking, had more memories. The OG had a synth section with 8 voices, and divide down Brass and String sections with paraphonic filters. Cherry Audio do away with the polyphony limitations and add five assignable effects per section and 5 global, arpeggiator/sequencer, splits for some really large sections and complex sounds. Nick flips some patches and enjoys the retro vibes.
