GRAMMY nominated record producer, songwriter, and synth programmer Bill Wolfer shares the story of his work with Michael Jackson on the 1983 hit single "Billie Jean," with a surprise over his shoulder: Cherry Audio's award-winning GX-80, which he mentions in the video (above).
When asked more about GX-80, Bill said, “I owned a CS-80 for over forty years, and used it on numerous recordings. It was far and away my favorite synthesizer. But playing the GX-80 with a controller that outputs polyphonic aftertouch, I can close my eyes, and I have my beloved CS-80 again.”
“The GX-80 captures the spirit of it,” he continues,” and I haven’t even gotten around to exploring the GX-1 side of it. I never would have thought it possible to have my own “Dream Machine” that lives in my computer. This is voodoo, or alchemy — I’m astounded. Outstanding!”
