Last week the Pro Synth Network show (replay above) welcomed Cherry Audio and Dr. Tom Rhea as guests to discuss his work on the original Crumar Spirit, and his book, Electronic Perspectives: Vintage Electronic Musical Instruments. This book is regarded as a heartfelt tribute to fans of electronic musical instruments. Although we previously covered the book's release back in March of last year, the conversation with Tom provides an excellent opportunity to remind our community about this essential work.
Forty-five years in the making, "Electronic Perspectives" contains all of Tom Rhea's fifty-two influential columns, first published in Keyboard magazine from 1977-1981. This 400-page tome greatly expands on the original content with updated information and hundreds of newly restored images. Electronic Perspectives includes two CDs of unearthed recordings—sounds many have never heard—spanning multiple eras of electronic music.
